Fall Requirement, Leather Pants

This week my friend asked me what to wear for her upcoming housewarming party. It only took me about two minutes to spew off ideas but the first thing that came to mind was leather pants or leather leggings. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of leggings as pants, especially when they're cotton (we can do better girls!) but I will make an acception for leather leggings, when and if worn correctly.

I promise, leather pants are a great addition to the closet and can look very chic. If they are paired with the correct item. If styled poorly, they can look cheap and make you never go near leather again. Who doesn't need leather pants in their life?? After looking through Pinterest for some outfit inspo, I shared four looks with my newly found fashionista friend. Then decided to rock my leather pants the next day to work, it's officially Fall in Boston and I am not holding back!!

You might be wondering, what shoes look best with faux leather leggings. My favorite is a pair of sneakers, whether they're trainers or a trendy pair of Balenciagas or Golden Goose, the pairing of athletic gear it tres chic and will steer you clear from at 50s Greece look. I usually will pair my leather pants with my white leather Nike kicks. But if you're looking for a dressier look for work or a date night, I suggest a "tough" boot or pointy flat (check out the boots in my Favorite Online Stores post for some inspo).

Because I want to make sure you get this look right, do not pair your leather leggings with a leather jacket. Leather tuxedos are not a thing and they never will be a thing, I hope. If you do need to rock a jacket I'd suggest a longer cargo jacket in a neutral color or maybe a camo jacket. OR a long plaid jacket, I just when to Primark and found the perfect plaid trench for 30 bucks #fallfashionwinpeople.

The shine of the pants needs to be balanced with other textures, aka no shiny satin or sequins. Although I hope you aren't wearing sequins on days other than New Years Eve. I'm thinking for the everyday office look or night out, you'll want to pair them with a blazer and t-shirt, chunky sweater, cashmere crew neck, sweatshirt or angora top for a more luxe vibe.

I suggest keeping the jewelry delicate; small rings, delicate chains, a watch or chain bracelet would look best. Even thin gold hoops are a great choice and we all know hoops are #soontrend at the moment. Although I want you to look trendy, we don't want a #tredsalad, so keep it simple. Let those leather pants shine, pun not intended.
