Okay so I have finally come down to earth and need to get back on the blogging "grind." I have so much I want to write about I don't even know were to start. So this post may be all over the place. Do I begin with the most bizarre NYE I've ever had in Winter Park where a girl was punched by a boy, in the face, at the stroke of midnight. Or when Kendal thought we were driving past a herd of BEARS in NEBRASKA #facepalm. In her defense we were a bit delusional after 2 days of driving. Cows kinda look like bears..... Or I could start with the first stop on our trip, Notre Dame. We got out of the car and acted like Kendal was a student and I was dropping her off for second semester. We literally took out her suitcase and took pictures in front of campus. People were starring. I am laughing so hard as I write this and missing KG lots.
Day one of the road trip went by the fastest, just a quick 10 hours from Cuse to Chicago. It was the longest day of driving but I think we were so excited and distracted by Call Her Daddy that it went by fast. Chicago was my favorite stop along the way, thanks to our great hosts who showed us the fun Christmas themed bars, Wrigley field and some disgusting drink called Marlot. Apparently Chicago is known for this grapefruit/gasoline bev and you either hate it or love it, I was not a fan but Kendal enjoyed it??? After our Instagram worthy brunch the following morning, we obviously had to check out the shopping scene. And the bean. I think our shopping problem was in full force this week, by the middle of the trip I told Kendal she needed to sit in the car so she would stop getting me to buy things!! It's hard when you're a sucker in the check out line. UGH. Also, Ken bought so many new articles of clothing that I had to ship a box with her new items, a total cost of $33. But obviously she needed to purchase 3 FP sweaters and a FP jacket. The jacket was $40 at TJX and in PC it was $160 #willonlyshopforbargains. Hopefully Mrs. Glynn isn't reading this because Kendal said she needed to hide the box when it got delivered. LOL.
Oh HOW COULD I FORGET, I took Ken to my favorite restaurant, The Red Iguana and I don't think either of us have laughed harder in our life (she knows why). Ken contemplated which dish she wanted, a Mole or a Platter. And she figured the best way to decide was to LEAN OVER THE TABLE NEXT TO US AND LOOK AT THE PLATTER WHEN IT WAS PUT IN FRONT OF HIM AND STARE AT IT. Literally standing over this mans shoulder, starring at his meal. Neither of us realized how absurd this was until a minute later and then did not stop laughing the entire dinner. During this time she came to the conclusion they were "normans" aka KG's version of Mormons, the the adults all ordered a glass of milk. Might've given it away. I think they thought we were nut jobs, but I think everyone feels that about the two of us. No shame.
This trip is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. There was a lot of emotion behind this move and I am so thankful my best friend agreed to go on this 34 hour adventure with me. I would not of wanted to do this with anyone else. When we pulled into Utah (after driving 4 hours in a blizzard in the Rockies, white knuckled) I think we both had the feels. I mean I obviously cried, because I cry at everything. But it was also an emotional moment. I've talked about moving to SLC for years and I had finally done it, all by myself. It's been 4 weeks and I feel like I've been here for a year already, in the best way. It's the best decision I could've made for myself. I've formed an amazing group of friends #saltbaes. The skiing is unreal, although the minor concussion and and whip lash weren't great. But if you aren't falling you aren't getting any better, I thinks that's a saying?? Also, my roommate this time around is a GEM, which makes a world of difference. I think I've had more belly laughs with her in 4 weeks than I had in the last year. I have lot's of stories I can already share. One being our attempt to sneak into TAO at Sundance to meet Post Malone. But I'll leave that for another post. I promise I will not wait this long to write!!
