I know I've been very MIA the past month (or two) but I promise it's for good reason!

Back when I decided to make this move I made a "life list." The first thing on that list was to meet my quarterly quota at work. Sad, I know. Even my manager told me I needed to get my priorities straight and maybe put that one on just the work list. Oh and this is after I told her I was moving. Meaning I get to keep my job and work remote. HUGE. This was probably the scariest conversation I planned to have. I love my job and really wanted to stay with my company. I'm so fortunate they're allowing me to do this, it's going to make the transition that much easier. Although, I am going to miss seeing my gal pals at work every day and the occasional after work pasta party.

So after "reorganizing" the first thing I needed to figure out was someone taking over my room in Southie. Let me tell you, this was not as easy a process as I hoped... but when push came to shove, I was able to get this sorted out in three days. I was not about to pay two rents and made sure of it. Also, Boston, Southie in particular is a competitive market. So when you find someone who's a good fit you've gotta jump fast. Once I found the right roomie to take over, I chased the leasing company everyday to execute the new lease so I could be home free. #phew

In parallel I was on the hunt for a new roommate in SLC. Definitely came across some weirdos. Some guy said I could live in his "mansion" for free in exchange for some interesting things... is that what they call a sugar daddy?? I also had people reaching out with open basements, uhhh, I'm good. Think if I'm living in Salt Lake I'd like to have SOME view of the mountains. After deleting my add on KSL (the craigslist of SLC) I ventured over to Facebook. If you are ever moving to a new city and don't know too many people, the Facebook housing groups are great for finding roommates. Friends too. Next thing you know I'll be on Bumble BFF. LOL. I spoke with few girls, some really great but I could tell they weren't the right fit. Also I had three months to find someone and this time around I wanted to be sure I made the right decision, especially living in a new city. And then, I met Hayes (hi, Hayes). We instantly hit it off. I think after a few face times and days of texting we were already asking each other about jackets and sweat suits we should get from Target. Ahhh, meant to be. Also, Hayes is a rock star. She literally flew to Salt Lake City on a whim to go look at apartments for us. This is when I knew we'd be friends, because if I had the time to do that I absolutely would've gone.

After touring 13+ apartments (might've been more) over the span of 3 days, we came across brand new condos that look like they're meant to be on the side of a mountain in Norway. At least that's what the add says. Lol. Although pricier than we initially wanted, we knew it was the perfect fit. Three stories, two car garage, second story deck, our own bathrooms (with a never been used bath tub) and our own.... WALK IN CLOSETS. If any of you haven't seen my current closet, it's very sad. I had to drill a second rod at the bottom of it to fit my pants and most of my clothes are under my bed, not great. Anyways, the best part of this was that we got first months rent free. This was one of my bigger concerns, I knew I found the perfect roommate but our moving schedules didn't exactly line up. She was arriving in November and I still had two months to go. I thought, okay if I have to pay double rent in December that would be fine but December and November would be tough. But that didn't end up happening because it took the city sooooo long to approve the complex for move in. So I ended up getting December free and will start paying rent in Jan. Hayes is probs rolling her eyes because she had to couch surf at an airbnb for a month, but hey I think this apartment is going to be worth it! We actually just signed the lease today, so hopefully I'll be getting a facetime tonight to see our unit "in real life."

In addition to the big ticket items above, I needed to figure out a way to get all my stuff from Boston to Utah. I realized I have a lot more kitchen items than I thought, thanks mom. On my last Utah post I mentioned getting a U Box, which is still what I'm doing. But, I have decided to get rid of my furniture. The only things I'm keeping are my couch and my bed. I wanted to sell the couch for various reasons but if I'm already spending this money to get my things across the country, might as well throw the couch in there. If anything, I can get a new cover for it and it'll be like new. So when you get a U box there are a lot of things you need to know, that they don't tell you. One, you have to get a parking permit from the city to be able to have the box on the street for loading, otherwise it gets towed. You also have buy your own lock. For some reason I feel like it should be a lot stronger that a rinky dink pad lock (God please make sure my things get there safely and it doesn't get broken into). So that's set to be delivered next Thursday, anytime between 7am - 1pm. #helpful Not to mention I'm going to NYC the following day, so will have minimal hours of daylight to load this thing.

I feel like there is a lot more I can add to this post but I should probably go continue packing. Didn't I just do this 4 months ago??? Oh well, this move is worth it!
